All men are equal in the pit. As flesh and features dissolve and brittle bones crack and fracture, we all scream the same. Each river of blood runs together to form an intermingled crimson sea, where no status, stature, name or dream can be distinguished. As entrails fall to the floor from torn torsos they rush together like glistening serpents, gathering in some unspeakable, slippery orgy of alien pleasures. There is no dignity, no honour, when we come undone.
From Kediri in East Java, Indonesia come Devastrosity; a new venture into audio violence from a trio of musicians with a wealth of experience in the fertile Indonesian brutal death metal scene. Having introduced themselves with the limited edition Human Depravation demo last year, they are now ready to unleash the blood storm of their full length debut album – Eviscerating Desolation.
After an eerie, skin-crawling intro ‘Human Depravation’ casts the listener down into the depths of hell. Frantic drumming, massive riffs and utterly inhuman vocals, all delivered with wicked precision and evil intent; the band switching from face-peeling speed to a broken crawl through decaying corpses in the space between breaths. Despite the overwhelming onslaught of death and dismemberment, Eviscerating Desolation possesses an unnerving clarity to its sound – with the varied elements of sadistic savagery that imbue annihilating tracks like ‘Morbid Desires’ distinct and discernible. Every track on this relentless ride to oblivion is infused with an uncontrollable need to kill and Eviscerating Desolation delivers blow after sickening blow. ‘The Dealer Of Death’ is absolutely crushing, its rich, thick guitars breaking out into riffs that connect at a gut level and put a sick smile of contentment on your face. ‘Parasitic Epidemic’ is bewildering in its crazed rhythms and twisted riffs as it gnaws at the frayed edges of your sanity and finally we come to ‘Cadaveric Feast’, perhaps the most horrific track of all. This is a rabid gore-soaked nightmare to the bloody end, as Devastrosity try to ensure that there is no recognisable remnant of your body left before they depart.
Devastrosity have been welcomed into the deranged ranks of the Comatose Music army and Eviscerating Desolation will be discharged upon the world in a flood of bile and venom on October 24th, adorned in the eye-gouging artwork of Rudi GorgingSuicide (Avulsed, Devangelic, Gutrectomy etc). This is not for the curious, casual listener…this is brutal death metal at its disease ridden, corpse consuming, flesh-rending best. Intense to the last drop of blood.
