To Speak in Tongues is the debut EP from King’s Hammer, the savage death metal solo project from Chuck Weatherman, the guitarist and vocalist of Richmond, Virginia thrashers Shovelhead A.D. – an outpouring of the accomplished front man’s hardest and heaviest musical inclinations. Opening with the measured power of ‘The War In Heaven’, To Speak In Tongues delivers riff upon riff upon riff; focussed hammer blows that land with force and conviction. With the addition of an imposing vocal presence and a deliciously grim sound palette To Speak In Tongues makes for remorseless, relentless, yet atmospheric listening. From the old school death metal attack of first single ‘Vehement Zeal’, through the brutal grooves of ‘Wrath Descends’ and the epic ‘Crusade IX’ to the shuddering juggernaut of darkness that is concluding track, ‘Witches Bvrn’, King’s Hammer takes no prisoners.
