On dark nights in shadow realms, he treads secret paths through the deep places – beneath the earth, beneath the stone. He blends the elements in black concoctions, thick syrups of dire poison and brews twilight potions in his lairs beyond the sun. He is philosopher and warrior, he is alchemist and king…the dusk walker, the sailor on the seas of madness, a disciple of the old god who dwells behind the stars. He is ineffable, unknowable, impossible; the unheard myth, the secret tale…he is the Lumberghast.
A fusion of dark metal and darker electronics spiralling down through the burning tunnels that lead to the gates of hell – this is the sound of Lumberghast. An entity, a musical force self created in an abandoned Petri dish in one of Zebadiah Crowe’s hidden laboratories of madness and misanthropy, Lumberghast has grown strong on a diet of extreme music, violent video games and arcane rites. And now the debut Lumberghast album is ready to be unveiled. First Person Shooter is an elixir of pulsing beats and unnerving atmosphere augmented by vicious, mechanistic guitar riffs; a disorientating mist rising up between steel girders and blood dripping onto live wires…a stench of burning and the choking effluvia of mortality. All the work of Otto Von Lumberghast, tracks like the grinding ‘Nero’ or the oppressive ‘Arcade Bloodbath’ are the outpourings of a troubled mind, the whispers that follow you back to the waking world from nightmares to terrible to remember. With the likes of the intimidating ‘Kaizu Headache Flowers’ Von Lumberghast has enmeshed opposing worlds of neon and starlight, constructing an enveloping labyrinth of sound.
The first single from First Person Shooter is the portentous ‘Splatterhouse’ which also plays a key role in another new development in Otto Von Lumberghast’s life. On March 11th he will walk to the ring, accompanied by the intimidating beats of ‘Splatterhouse’ to take part in his first bout as a professional wrestler for UBW – Ultimate British Wrestling. How anyone will stand against him with the sound of Lumberghast to usher him into battle remains to be seen. Released on May 1st First Person Shooter is like a mind altering drug that will infiltrate every aspect of your being. Your world is about to be twisted out of all recognition.
