Mass Infection - Shadows Became Flesh

  • cover

In the small hours, in the darkest hours of the night, when time stretches into a warped eternity and the entities of dream and nightmare walk abroad, the seemingly immutable laws of reality are distorted and broken. It’s a time of transformation, of birth and rebirth, when angels become demons and devils turn to the light...and some monsters stay monsters, but become even more powerful, even more unknowable and twisted, darker and more terrifying than even the dreaming mind can fathom...

It’s been four years since Mass Infection last released an album, the thundering, grinding brutality of For I Am Genocide. With that album the band established their status as an accomplished strike force, waging war on the edge of death metal’s extreme outposts, forging their own sound in the white heat of battle. Yet they were never content with their victories and accomplishments. Mass Infection kept pushing on further into the black, until they found themselves tumbling over the edge into that world of dreams and visions. They spoke with devils, walked with the terrors of night, were broken and rebuilt and have returned anew, to begin a new era of twilight brutality with Shadows Became Flesh!

Everything about Shadows Became Flesh shines with a new arcane luminosity; the guitars weave bewildering, obscure patterns, the atmosphere is siphoned from the most twisted nightmares, the drum barrage from Giulio Galati (Hideous Divinity, Bloodshot Dawn) is utterly overwhelming. With the new sound come new visuals and the artwork created by painter Maximos Manolis is the perfect adornment for this work of ominous wickedness. Mastered by Alan Douches (Death, Deicide, Hate Eternal etc) Shadows Became Flesh sounds breathtaking in its brutality.

Released by Comatose Music on December 7th, Shadows Became Flesh doesn’t just set new standards for Mass Infection, it throws down a formidable challenge to every band in the death metal genre.
