SETH METOYER – THROUGH THE VANISHING POINT

LABEL: ROTTWEILER RECORDS / BROKEN CURFEW RECORDS

    RELEASE DATE: MAY 16th 2025

When Seth Metoyer released the single ‘House Of Echoes’ back in March there were more than a few surprised intakes of breath. Had this beautifully crafted piece of haunting alt-rock, threaded through with introspection and dreaming, melancholic melodies really been summoned from the shadows by the frontman of uncompromising, grinding death metal act Pulpit Vomit? The man whose distinctive, bestial snarl adorned Mangled Carpenter tracks like ‘Severed’ and ‘Lumberyard? The instantly memorable nature of ‘House Of Echoes’, it’s mist swathed atmosphere, meant that surprise soon turned to appreciation…and anticipation for the album that was to follow in the single’s quietly purposeful footsteps. And now, Through The Vanishing Point is here.

"This album is a reflection of the spaces between reality and memory.” – Seth Metoyer

Fittingly, Through The Vanishing Point begins with ‘House Of Echoes’ and its cascading guitar motif and understated melodies are just as effective as we’d all remembered. But now, when it steps back into the gathering night, the story is only just beginning. The atmosphere, the superb vocals, the richly textured sound and introspective feel of ‘House Of Echoes’ are constant elements throughout Through The Vanishing Point, which gives the album it’s sense of smooth, cohesive completeness – but each song also possesses a character and aura all its own. The emotive balladry of ‘A Sky Stitched In Blue’ seems to be nursing wounds to its soul as it wanders through memory and emotion. It’s clearly intensely personal and honest, but that honesty also makes it accessible to all and powerfully cathartic. ‘Between The Tangent’ is steeped in a brooding darkness that touches the heart and offers avenues for thought and reflection. ‘The Finality Of Goodbye’ sees Metoyer’s vocals exposed above gentle piano notes and it successfully embraces that space and fragility. The painful memories and resulting scars are laid bare here and that bravery creates one of the most affecting songs of Through The Vanishing Point’s tough but redemptive journey. The final three tracks of the album are alternate takes on songs that have come before…but dismiss any thoughts of space filling immediately; these genuinely offer something different, new angles on songs strong enough to merit varied approaches. Both musically and lyrically Seth Metoyer has created an album of depth, openness and the kind of strength that can only come through vulnerability. He’s also put together a fantastic selection of melodic and rewarding alt-metal, post grunge, ‘90s influenced, rock songs that are a simple joy to listen to.

“If you’ve ever felt haunted by a place, a moment, or a feeling, you’ll understand." – Seth Metoyer

Produced, mixed and mastered by Seth Metoyer at Broken Curfew Studios in Monterey, CA, Through The Vanishing Point has been blessed with a sound as dynamic and vibrant as its compositions. It will be released by an alliance of Rottweiler Records and Broken Curfew Records on May 16th.
