  We stood in the smouldering ruins of paradise, choking on ashes, still proudly proclaiming our absolute dominance, our divine right of kingship over the wasteland we had created. And as we bled out into the scorched earth our broken bodies were lifted from whence they fell. Cradled in the arms of annihilation we were carried beyond the end, through the gates of eternity, to our reward for sadistic stewardship and careless carnage. The pitiless mother laid us down amongst the demons, wrapped us in flames and ice and our endless agonies began...

  Ulter Praefinitum, ‘beyond the end’, is the full length debut album from Wretched Tongues, one of the most potent and powerful forces in deathcore today. If what lies beyond the end for humanity is indeed the just deserts for our greed and rapacious nature, if the eternal torments prophesied by our religions do await, then there could be no more fitting soundtrack to endless punishment than the colossal destructive impact of Ulter Praefinitum. The blows that are delivered by tracks like ‘To Witness The Infinite’ are utterly staggering – you will hear nothing this year that hits as hard as Wretched Tongues. As impressive as the sheer intimidating nature of Ulter Praefinitum though, are the intelligent touches of atmosphere, the technical adeptness, the grasp of song writing fundamentals - even when working with the most extreme of sound palettes. Wretched Tongues are craftsmen as well as destroyers. When this album concludes and you climb tentatively back to your feet, you’ll be left with memories of wicked hooks and visionary vistas of sound – as well as bruises and broken bones.
