My Place Was Taken, from the Mexican border town of Matamoros, announced their alliance with Rottweiler Records in May, with the release of the ‘Altar De Moloc’ single – a thunderous exposition of deathcore menace and might. Now they deliver the even heavier follow up – ‘Rude Awakening’. A nerve shredding intro gives way to an incredibly heavy riff; measured, paced and deliberate, gradually growing in force and momentum. The sheer weight is intimidating and the vocal presence immense, the song driven forward by muscle, blood and unwavering belief.
