Vortex Sutra Prepare To Release Noumenon

Originally from Hungary, Denes Poszmik moved to Glasgow, Scotland, where in 2023 he began his solo musical project, Vortex Sutra. Designed, in Denes' own words, to be an outlet for “musical ideas that were unusual even for the progressively minded” Vortex Sutra's first venture onto the stage took place at Edinburgh's famous Bannerman's venue in 2024. More shows followed across England and Scotland before the January 2025 release of Vortex Sutra's debut album - Glimpse Into The Transcendental. This album showed that Denes Poszmik was not going to be bound by anyone's expectations, preconceptions or genre definitions - there were no borders or boundaries hemming in his creative freedom. Glimpse Into The Transcendental took its inspiration from all parts of the musical spectrum and spun its own enticing, bewildering, musical webs. Now Denes is ready to present the follow up to Glimpse Into The Transcendental, a second album of proud, unrestrained individualism; another adventurous, exhilarating voyage into the unknown - Noumenon.

Noumenon is a term taken from the philosophies of Immanuel Kant, used to describe something that exists independently of human sensory perception and understanding, something fundamentally unknowable - be it spiritual, scientific, religious or philosophical. This branch of thinking and its suggestion of endless possibilities inspired Denes to create an album that is presented not in typical song structures, but as four movements, like a classical symphony. Upon foundations of exploratory, energised bass and emotive, vivacious drumming Denes paints in swathes of colourful synth and dramatic keys, carrying the listener across a multi-hued landscape of sound, rich in emotion…a voyage of discovery and revelation. From twilight shadows to dazzling sunlight, soft dusk-toned secrets to exhilarating showers of stars, each part of Noumenon serves up a feast for the senses, countless sparks to set the imagination aflame. Infused with the adventurous essence of the progressive rock greats and informed by a passion for all music; from extreme metal to ambient, classical to jazz and the avant garde, Noumenon is a work of boundless spirit.

Adorned in the artwork of Aleksander Rodchenko - his perfectly enigmatic 1918 painting Non-Objective Painting no. 80 (Black on Black) - Noumenon will be released on CD and via all major streaming services, through Hallucigenia Records on June 27th.
