METEORA – BROKEN MIND EP LABEL: H-MUSIC RELEASE DATE: OCTOBER 17th 2025

My past is a place of shadows, of formative monsters that I have tried to run from but never left behind. They have shaped me and I have allowed them to. They gave me a structure, a framework and a shield. But you have unlocked each door that I have closed about my heart and let the light shine upon a version of myself I had almost forgotten. And I must make him stronger. I must draw him from the dark until he can stand beside you and let the monsters crumble into dust and become lost upon the wind. I must heal this broken mind…
After the powerful impact of their In this Silence EP, released in the summer, innovative Hungarian symphonic metal troupe Meteora are now set to unveil the second part in a previously announced trilogy of EPs – Broken Mind. While Atanathos webzine hailed In this Silence for setting “a new standard for contemporary symphonic metal”, Broken Mind manages to surpass that intriguing release, sounding even more accomplished, assured and supremely confident. Meteora are ready to lead us further into their kingdom of romance, magic, tragedy and hope.
Devil dancing keys over dark and storm-tossed riffs, fierce energy and grand drama usher in Broken Mind’s first single and opening, title track. Composer and keyboard player Atilla Király describes the song as having “a really special place in all of our hearts” and its wonderful melodies and powerfully contrasting vocal styles make for a dynamic and thrilling beginning to this new collection of songs. ‘Morningstar’ follows, slipping from enchanting melodies to driving, heavy sections with rampant guttural vocals, the sublimely managed shifts in mood and tempo epitomising the Meteora sound. There is so much happening in these songs that they feel like true symphonies, with surprises and secrets revealed keeping you on the edge of your seat. ‘Elysion’ seems to step from the pages of history with its lilting melody, transportative and emotive and Atilla Király takes the vocal lead on this darkly hued power metal piece, his rich, smooth tones working to exemplary affect. Broken Mind’s crowning glory however comes with its final, epic track. A drama worthy of a stage play, ‘In My Name’ evolves into ever more splendid forms, layers of sound are added, layer upon layer and all three vocalists are at their superlative best. Featuring some truly excellent riffs and a sense of real depth and substance, ‘In My Name’ is surely one of Meteora’s greatest ever songs. Broken Mind is an immensely satisfying and rewarding sonic experience that leaves the listener with a feeling of incredible anticipation for what the final part of this trilogy of EPs may bring…
Working with recording engineer Balázs Pálfi (Türböwitch etc) and utilising the mixing and mastering skills of Nino Helfrich (Thrash Cult, Traces Of A Life etc), Dmitry Kim (Khors, Arhat etc) and Joel Wanasek (Machine Head, Carnation, Dååth etc) Meteora have captured the perfect sound for Broken Mind – textured, powerful and resonant – while the impactful EP cover art was brought to life by Dronicon Films (Swallow The Sun, Katatonia, October Tide etc). The ‘Broken Mind’ single is available now, accompanied by a video created in association with Kill Monday Management and the full EP will arrive on October 17th via H-Music Hungary.
