Shamash prepare to release The Gulf Between Us
September 29, 2025
Shamash is set to release their commanding new single, The Gulf Between Us, on October 3, 2025, across all major streaming platforms via Rottweiler Records.
The track represents a defining moment for the band — one that balances the punishing aggression of heavy music with a melodic core that feels both intimate and universal. At its heart, The Gulf Between Us is a song about distance, conflict, and redemption. It paints the picture of standing at the edge of separation, staring into silence and despair, but refusing to remain there. Instead, the song charts the difficult but necessary journey of moving forward, of closing the divide, and of finding healing and hope on the other side.
For Shamash, this release is more than just another single — it is a milestone. It marks the beginning of a new chapter for the band, one in which every note and every lyric carries the weight of their evolution. The Gulf Between Us is heavier, sharper, and more dynamic than anything they’ve done before, offering listeners an unflinching glimpse into the band’s creative rebirth.
Production Notes:
The single was engineered by award-winning engineer JD Wong of 21:05 Productions, also recognized as the guitarist for Malaysian rock icons Pop Shuvit. His technical precision and creative touch bring both depth and impact to the recording.
Production was led by Darren Teh, Shamash’s bassist, backup vocalist, and producer. In addition to his work with Shamash, Teh is also known as the vocalist and guitarist for award-winning pop-punk band An Honest Mistake. His role within Shamash goes beyond performance — he shapes the band’s sound from within, ensuring that the music reflects their shared vision with clarity, intensity, and authenticity.
Looking ahead, Shamash is excited to confirm that they will continue their work with JD Wong and 21:05 Productions on their next full-length album, with more details to follow in the coming months.
Songwriting Credits:
The Gulf Between Us was written by Shamash members Darren Teh (bass/backup vocals/ producer) and André Chiang (vocals). Their collaboration reflects the strength of the band’s internal chemistry. Teh brings an ear for structure, melody, and production detail, while Chiang channels the emotional intensity of the lyrics through his raw and commanding vocal performance. Together, they have created a piece that is not only musically precise but also thematically powerful, speaking to universal struggles of division, healing, and renewal.

About The Band:
Shamash was formed with a vision: to create music that is both punishing in its heaviness and honest in its message. Over the years, they have developed a reputation for weaving themes of struggle, redemption, and resilience into a sound that is at once aggressive and melodic. Their previous release, Done with Misery: Nos Pergamos in Domine Saluteum, gained international attention and secured them recognition in underground metal circles for its ambitious scope and emotional resonance.
With a refreshed lineup, renewed energy, and sharpened purpose, Shamash now enters its most ambitious era to date. The release of The Gulf Between Us signals not only their return but also their evolution — proof that the band is ready to step onto a larger stage, reaching audiences both at home and abroad with music that speaks to the core of the human experience.
