Final Coil prepare to re-release The World We Inherited – Remastered and Expanded

Final Coil’s third album, The World We Inherited, was released via Sliptrick Records in the January of 2024 and quickly established itself as the band’s most successful album to date – artistically, critically and in the way it propelled Final Coil forward in their career. Hailed by fans and reviewers alike for its depth, strength and vital creativity, The World We Inherited saw Final Coil achieve their first feature in Prog magazine, secure their first appearance at Bloodstock Open Air, and undertake their first headline European tour dates – including a sold-out show at Paris’ famed Supersonic venue, which will live long in the memories of all who were there. Before finally closing the book on this incredibly important album Final Coil have decided to give it the vinyl release it so richly deserves and which fans have been requesting since its original unveiling – alongside a special remaster from original producer Russ Russell (Amorphis, The Wildhearts, Napalm Death etc) and an array of additional material.

Nearly two years on from when it was first released The World We Inherited remains a wholly remarkable album. Inspired in part by a long, night-time conversation between song writer /lyricist Phil Stiles and Killing Joke’s Jaz Coleman; in part by the dystopian fiction of George Orwell; and in part by simple observation of our relentless tumble into collective madness, The World We Inherited is an all-encompassing listening experience. Musically, it is every bit as profound, enthralling and affecting as it is lyrically. The unmistakable blend of grunge, prog rock, and post-metal that characterises the Final Coil sound is sculpted and caressed into even more bewitching and surprising forms. Each song is a beautifully textured, multifaceted gem – exquisitely crafted and emotionally charged. From the grinding power of ‘Chemtrails’, via the aching fragility of ‘By Starlight’, to the sonic splendour of ‘End Of History’, these songs, without exception, represent stunning peaks in the Final Coil canon and their value and impact has only increased with the passage of time.

The expanded portion of The World We Inherited 2025, mixed and mastered by frontman Phil Stiles, includes a full live performance, which was captured at the Firebug venue in the band’s hometown of Leicester. It is a fiery, raucous and spirited display, providing a thrilling example of Final Coil’s intense and enveloping live energy. In addition there are two demo tracks, ‘Evoking History’ and ‘Self-Reflection’, that were omitted from the final track listing of The World We Inherited, and which were completed by the band for this release; as well as the original demos for ‘Humanity’ and ‘Stay With Me’, both of which provide fascinating insight into their growth and development.
